SRI (Smart Readiness Indicator) | The
SRI rates the smart readiness of buildings (or building units) in their
capability to perform 3 key functionalities: - optimise energy efficiency and overall in-use performance; - adapt their operation to the needs of the occupant; - adapt to signals from the grid (for example energy flexibility). |
An
SRI assessment consists of evaluating the performance of “smart-ready
services” categorised in the following 9 technical domains: heating, cooling,
domestic hot water, ventilation, lighting, dynamic building envelope,
electricity, electric vehicle charging, monitoring and control. The performance of each service is assessed against the following 7 desired impacts of smart buildings: energy efficiency, maintenance and fault prediction, comfort, convenience, health, well-being and accessibility, information to occupants, energy flexibility and storage. The result of the smart-ready assessment is aggregated into an overall SRI class and SRI score, which expresses how close the building is to maximum smart readiness. |
Both | N/A | European Union | Scale from 0 to 4 |
R2S (Ready2Services) | The
SBA and certifier Certivéa have set up this label for commercial
buildings. It defines the standards expected of a Smart Building: a building that is open and connected, ready for services. R2S goes further than connectivity alone. It certifies that the building's IT network is ready to deliver digital services that create value for occupants, operators and owners. |
The
label is based on 5 principles which will be broken down into requirements
and proof methods: - A solution architecture with 3 independent layers - System interoperability - IP standard for the building network - Openness of data, both internally and externally - Legal and IT data security |
Tertiary buildings, but there is also an R2S Residential label with a simplified reference framework. | 12300€ on average | France, expanding to Europe | 4 levels, from basic (no stars) to 3 stars |
WELL | Focuses on human health and well-being in built environments. | The WELL Standard is a library of over 500 evidence-based, design, policy and operational strategies focusing on: air, water, light, comfort, fitness, and mental health factors. | Both | Starting price 3000$ then price depending on surface area | International | Silver, Gold, Platinum |
BREEAM | Environmental
certification focusing on sustainability. BREEAM supports solutions to reduce carbon emissions to net zero, improve whole life performance, manage health and social impacts, boost circularity, resilience and biodiversity, and support disclosures and reporting. |
Assessment
categories: Management Water Energy Transport Health & wellbeing Resources Resilience Land use & ecology Pollution Materials Waste Innovation |
Both | From 2,000 to 10,000 euros depending on project size. | International | The BREEAM ratings range from Acceptable (In-Use scheme only) to Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent to Outstanding and it is reflected in a series of stars on the BREEAM certificate. |
LENOZ (Lëtzebuerger Nohaltegkeets-Zertifizéierung) | Luxembourg’s national certification for sustainable housing. | Certification
is based on 6 assessment categories (comprising 143 criteria): - Location: criteria relating to the location of the home ; - Social: criteria assessing the social functions within a collective building and the use of land; - Economy: criteria assessing the energy costs of the home; - Ecology: criteria assessing, among other things, the environmental impact of the building materials used; - Building and technical installations: criteria relating to the quality of the building and its technical installations; - Functionality: criteria designed to ensure the satisfactory use of the property. |
Residential | Anyone
requesting a LENOZ certificate must pay the costs involved in obtaining it.
Before ordering an energy performance certificate and subsequently the LENOZ
certificate, it is therefore advisable to compare offers and prices from
several experts. Financial assistance may be available from the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning for drawing up the certificate. |
Luxembourg | 4
levels: The expert in charge of the file draws up the durability certificate, which shows the durability class achieved: - class 1: very high durability, 85% of the criteria have been met; - class 2: high durability, 70% of criteria met; - class 3: good durability, 55% of criteria met and ; - class 4: minimum durability, 40% of criteria met. |
WiredScore | WiredScore certification focuses on the quality and resilience of the digital connectivity in the building. | Includes
assessing criteria such as: - Mobile connectivity - WiFi connectivity - Telecom Room Infrastructure - Risers and overall technological infrastructure |
Both | Registration fee for each building. Certification price is based on the size of the net lettable area of the building or development. | International | Varying
levels of WiredScore and SmartScore certification can be achieved, based on
minimum requirements and an assessment of the breadth and depth of technology
implementation. They are: – Pre-certified – Certified – Silver – Gold – Platinum |
